At approximately 7:19 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, a minivan crashed into an ambulance near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Farragut Street NW.

The driver and a passenger had to be extricated and were listed in critical condition.

At the time of the crash, the ambulance had been responding to a call.

The crash left the minivan completely totaled, with its front end torn apart, while the ambulance suffered major damage, but remained largely intact.

In video released, the minivan can be seen veering at the last second before crossing into the opposite lane and hitting the side of the ambulance.
